Jackie's Preschool Graduation

Jackie graduated from preschool today. The ceremony was at the train depot- perfect for what my boys called "the train school."

First, the kids sang some cute songs.

Then, they went to change into their caps and gown while we watched a slide show. I never thought I would tear up at a preschool graduation and then they had to set the slide show to "Let Them Be Little."

The proud graduate, on his way to get his diploma from Miss Mary Beth.

Next stop: Kindergarten!

Adam and Mason were there, too. Adam got to see Miss Michelle again. Grandma was there to help with Mason. Daddy had to work, but saw all the pics and video- which is now trapped on my broken flip video camera.

Cookies With Kindergarten

Jack and I went to the school where he will go to kindergarten in the fall. They had a snack for the kids, gave the parents info about the school, and took us for a tour.

I can't believe it's almost time for him to go to kindergarten!
Kindergarten is full day down here, btw.

2 Down, 1 to Go

It's been quite a while since Adam has had an accident, so I think it's safe to say that he is successfully potty-trained. He does need help getting dressed afterwards, but that's not a big deal at this point.

After every time that he goes, he says "I did it!!!!"

Frankenbaby Walks

Milestones

Mason is walking a lot now. He has a funny, stiff little walk that Daddy says makes him look a bit like Frankenstein, but he's learning.

Adam is doing a great job potty training and should be ready in time for preschool in September.

Mason's First Haircut

Mason is 10 months old today and was in desperate need of a haircut. His bangs were practically down to his nose and he had a little tail in the back.
Before pic:

He did a good job during his haircut. I held him while Aunt Leslie cut his hair.

During pics:

After pic:

Thanks to Aunt Leslie for cutting his hair and for letting me borrow a camera to take these pics.

We have a climber

Mason has been climbing the steps for a little while now, but he made it all the way up to the second floor today. He probably could have done it before, but I kept scooping him up after about 3 steps.

Adam climbed up beside Mason, showing him how to do it and saying "C'mon, Mason!" Then, Adam went up to the landings and would call down, "Go, Mason, go, go!"

Pulling Up

Mason has learned to pull himself up, though he hasn't quite figured out how to get down yet. This is not so much fun in the middle of the night.

Changed his mind

Guess the temperature finally convinced Adam that being naked all the time isn't the best idea. Here he is, right after his nap this afternoon- his first in his big boy bed...or, at least, beside his bed.

Not exactly crawling...

But, Mason sure can move! First, it was just being able to roll wherever he wanted. But, now, he reaches an arm out, uses that arm to pull himself, the back arm and his legs to push, and he can get himself where he wants to go pretty quickly.

Look who can sit up!

Mason has been able to sit up for short periods of time recently, but he just mastered sitting up for longer periods of time without being all wobbly. He's been living in footie pjs lately; it's so cold yet he hates socks and will pull them off with his teeth if we put them on him. So, footie pjs it is.

Starting Solids

Mason was a little unsure, but he ended up doing a pretty good job eating his cereal.

Oops, Bad Mommy

I have only occasionally been giving Adam a regular cup and then usually with a straw. He still was using sippy cups most of the time. This was not really because I didn't think he could drink from a cup, but because he spills alot and it was easier for me to give him a sippy and not have a mess to clean up. So, completely my fault that we couldn't check "can drink from cup" off his developmental checklist.

But, this morning, I was feeling very tolerant(or maybe because I know I have to scrub the kitchen floor today anyway) and handed him an open cup of juice. He drank it as if he's been doing it forever, no spills.

Sleeping thru the night

Mason slept thru the night last night- the first time in a very long time. I woke up at 6:30, realizing that I hadn't been jolted from my sleep at any point last night by a crying baby. Instead of delighting in my first full night's sleep in what feels like forever, I dashed to his room to be sure that he was okay. He was still sleeping, with a faint little grin on his face.

I don't know if it was because of the shots he had yesterday or- fingers crossed- the start of a wonderful new habit, but I'll take it!

He has a tooth

After much fuss, Mason's first tooth broke thru the surface a few days ago. It's not all the way up, but you can see the top of it and you can definitely feel it; he likes to chomp on fingers!

Drool Baby

Yes, he's hit that milestone.
