Lost Backpack
Jackie misplaced his backpack at camp last Thursday. He was upset and told one of the camp counselors "Oh, no! Now I'm not going to be able to go to school anymore!"
I've checked lost and found, but it hasn't turned up. Jack was wondering today where it disappeared to and I thought I'd ask his opinion about what he thought happened to it.
"Well, I had it in the locker room and then I had to go to the bathroom and while I was in the bathroom, I heard my backpack say the magic words and disappear."
What are the magic words?
"Feliz CumpleaƱos."
Happy birthday, little backpack. Guess you turned one and ran away.

Short Sports
Today was Jack's first day of a two week Short Sports camp, where they play a different sport every day. Today was soccer. Jack had a great time.
He also made sure that everyone called him JackIE. One of his counselors said that JackIE told her that he didn't really like lines and when she told him that he still had to get in line with everyone else, he told her "Well, sometimes I like lines when I'm in the front..." Good for her for making him get back in his place at the end of the line.

Another KidzGIG Pic
Our friend Kim got a good close-up of Jack while he was up on stage. Those noisemakers in the kids' hands were hilarious. They were filled with some sort of beans/rice and some of the kids' ripped while they were on stage; some of the kids started picking up the spilled rice and throwing it in the air during the songs.
KidzGIG
Before you feel too bad for him, know that this week he went to the park, visited his friends Zach and Benny, played with other kids while I went to a workshop and then again at the gym, as well as getting special treats.Jackie, up on stage, trying to adjust the microphone stand.

Jackie had a great time this week and woke me up each morning with his camp shirt already on, ready to go. I was a student ministries intern at that church, twelve years ago. It was crazy to see the "kids" whom I remember there as ADULT leaders, with kids of their own. Time is not allowed to go that quickly for my own children.Friday, June 19, 2009
