Lazy Santa
Jackie: Mom, if Santa's elves make all the toys, what does Santa do? Just deliver them? Is that all?

Thanks, Jackie
Jackie: Mom, what did you say?
Mom: Oh, nothing, Jackie, I was just talking to myself.
Jackie: If you keep doing that, people will think you're crazy.

Popcorn Tree
Jackie: I know what we can do with the popcorn seeds(unpopped kernels). We can plant them in the yard and then they'll grow into popcorn trees and we can eat the popcorn off the trees.

He CAN Be Sweet
Jack and I were holding hands at the park this morning and he told me, "Mommy, I wish you could hold my hand forever."

Just a Flashlight
Jackie's running commentary as he was building some contraption out of blocks:
I'm building this for Uncle Aaron.
Do you know why I'm building this for Uncle Aaron?
Because I want him to have fun. He doesn't have any toys at his house so he doesn't have any fun.
He just has a flashlight.

No Fun Today
As he's getting ready for bed, Jackie says to me "Mommy, I wanted to do something fun today. Why didn't we do anything fun?"
Poor, deprived child, who never does anything.

Lost Backpack
Jackie misplaced his backpack at camp last Thursday. He was upset and told one of the camp counselors "Oh, no! Now I'm not going to be able to go to school anymore!"
I've checked lost and found, but it hasn't turned up. Jack was wondering today where it disappeared to and I thought I'd ask his opinion about what he thought happened to it.
"Well, I had it in the locker room and then I had to go to the bathroom and while I was in the bathroom, I heard my backpack say the magic words and disappear."
What are the magic words?
"Feliz CumpleaƱos."
Happy birthday, little backpack. Guess you turned one and ran away.

Short Sports
Today was Jack's first day of a two week Short Sports camp, where they play a different sport every day. Today was soccer. Jack had a great time.
He also made sure that everyone called him JackIE. One of his counselors said that JackIE told her that he didn't really like lines and when she told him that he still had to get in line with everyone else, he told her "Well, sometimes I like lines when I'm in the front..." Good for her for making him get back in his place at the end of the line.

Tower of Terror
Jackie was just tall enough to be able to go on this ride. Adam missed it by a few inches. Of course, Jack had no idea what it was. When the elevator started falling, he linked his arm through Daddy's and held Mommy's hand at the same time. The look on his face was more surprised than scared and he wanted to go on it again.

PB&J Taxes
Jackie is at VBS at a church up the street from our house this week. They have to pay taxes to the Roman soldiers tomorrow in the form of a food item for the church's food bank.
But, Jack is insisting that he asked one of the soldiers and the soldier wants a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Awanasick
Jackie just told me, "I'm a little bit Awanasick."
What does that mean?
"It means I miss being at Awana."
Good thing for him that he has it tonight.

Interview with Jackie
Totally stole this from another mom's blog, but since she encouraged others to do it, it's okay, right? Feel free to steal it, too.
1. What is something mom always says to you? Thank you.
2. What makes mom happy? Whenever I don't do anything to you.
3. What makes mom sad? When I hurt you.
4. How does your mom make you laugh? YOU laugh.(not my laughing making him laugh, but he wanted nothing to do with answering the question, just wanted to tell me to laugh, just like he does at the end of each of his jokes.)
5. What was your mom like as a child? You played with my Grammy all the time and I was still in your belly.
6. How old is your mom? 5
7. How tall is your mom? taller than a tree(he first had to put one hand down by feet and the other by my head, as if he were measuring me)
8. What is her favorite thing to do? play Wii Fit
9. What does your mom do when you're not around? You play that thing up there with Daddy(the Wii)
10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? to go on the tv
11. What is your mom really good at? the Wii Fit(you would think that I use it all the time from the number of times he's mentioning it, but meanwhile, my Mii is asleep or maybe crying by now)
12. What is your mom not very good at? hanging upside down
13. What does your mom do for her job? watch the boys
14. What is your mom's favorite food? cereal and bananas when you were a little girl
15. What makes you proud of your mom? 'cause I love you
16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be? the little one that was here when you were a little girl, probably I don't know her name
17. What do you and your mom do together? play Barnyard Bingo and go to the zoo a little bit
18. How are you and your mom the same? We have the same toes.(I swear I did NOT prompt him to say that we have the same long finger toes/monkey toes. He looked at me, then looked at himself, back and forth and came up with this all on his own.)
19. How are you and your mom different? Cause we have different hair. I have black hair and you have gray hair. (His hair isn't black...so I'm claiming he just doesn't know his colors well enough and that's why he's saying I have gray hair...)
20. How do you know your mom loves you? Cause you just say you love me all the time. I love you.
21. What chore does mommy not like to do? Clean up all my toys.
22. Where is your mom's favorite place to go? To drop me and Adam at Grammy's house(though his first answer was a local bar, but then he said no, that was Daddy's favorite place)
23. How do you know mommy loves daddy? Because you go with him to ***(insert name of Daddy's favorite place) and cause you give him kisses

The Bigs
There was a puppy at Adam's school today, though I'm not sure why. When I picked him up, his teacher said that all Adam wanted to do was pet the puppy, hug the puppy, kiss the puppy, chase the puppy, etc. He's been telling me all day that "Oh, no! Puppy gone!" Good thing the puppy was at Adam's school and not Jack's, since Jack would have refused to go through the door if there was a puppy in there.
The dentist came to visit Jack's school today and Jack is amusing us with stories about sugar bugs that live in his food that he needs to brush out of his teeth.
Out of nowhere tonight, Jack informed me that "It hurt when I was a baby and I was born. That's why I went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Then he laughed and said, "That's why I did the wah dance, because it hurt to be born." The wah dance is what Jack called it when Mason was a newborn and would cry and flail his arms about.

What a sweet kid
I took the boys to Grammy's house today so that she and Papa could watch them while I went to get my hair done.
Jackie asked me why I needed to go get my hair done. I told him it was because my hair was a mess.
Very seriously, he told me, "Your hair isn't a mess, Mommy. You look just like Sleeping Beauty."
How sweet...though give him a year or two and I'd be saying "what a little manipulator...what do you want for saying that?"
